Identify what actually needs reversing
Synthetic policy: both attendance and no-show consume one session. A no-show is recorded at close, but a staff register later proves attendance. Change the classification without returning a session. A separately applied two-session no-show penalty must be reversed because the booking was attended.
| Entry | Evidence or cause | Session change | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| U-1 | Normal booked session | -1 | Keep consumption |
| P-1 | No-show penalty | -2 | Original entry retained |
| R-1 | Attendance register accepted | +2 | Reverse P-1 only |
Link correction to the attendance decision
- Confirm the register identifies the same member and session.
- Change no-show to attended with the evidence reference.
- Reverse only deductions that depend on absence; retain normal consumption.
A register with an ambiguous member name is insufficient; keep the correction pending until the person is identified.
A balance was 6 before the -1 usage and -2 penalty. What is it after R-1?
Show the worked answer
6 - 1 - 2 + 2 = 5. Returning three would wrongly make an attended session free.
Reports should distinguish corrected attendance from the date of the correction. Preserve the original session date for usage reporting.
