Who operates the apps
Astera Technology Limited operates the 5min CrashCourse learner apps for Android and iOS. This policy covers our subject and exam-preparation apps that link to this page, including HK Driving, Basic Law & NSL Test, CRE, primary-school subjects and language preparation. Our separate website privacy policy covers visits to asteratek.com. For privacy questions, email business@asteratek.com and include the app name.
Study records on your device
The app stores answers, practice history, bookmarks, notes, settings and reminder choices on your device. We do not run a learner account or upload those records to an Astera study server. You can export a backup and choose where to save or share it; anyone with the exported file may be able to read its contents. Delete a backup from its chosen location when you no longer need it.
Ads and privacy choices
The app uses Google AdMob for banner, interstitial and optional rewarded ads. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and share IP address, approximate location inferred from it, app interactions, diagnostics and device or advertising identifiers for ad delivery, measurement and fraud prevention. Ad partners may process this information outside Hong Kong. Where required, the app presents Google’s consent choices before requesting ads; you can reopen privacy options in Settings when that option is available. A paid ad-free entitlement hides ads, but the app may still contact the consent service.
Purchases and reward access
Google Play or Apple handles payments and may retain purchase records under its own policy. The app receives product and verified transaction status to grant or restore access; it does not receive your payment-card number. Purchase status and the expiry of rewarded question-bank access are cached on your device.
Offline study and reminders
Study screens, question banks and bundled study media work offline. Ads, consent services, store purchases, restore purchases and external links may use the network. The current learner apps do not request a remote promotion list. Study reminders are scheduled locally on your device and are not sent through an Astera learner account. You can change reminder choices in the app or notification permissions in your device settings.
Support messages and retention
If you email us, we use your address and message to answer and investigate the issue. Please omit passwords, payment-card details and unnecessary personal information. We keep correspondence as needed for support and applicable business records. Study records remain on your device until you delete them or the app’s data; exported backups remain wherever you placed them. Store and advertising providers apply their own retention periods.
Your requests and policy updates
Email business@asteratek.com to ask about personal data held by Astera or request access or correction. We may need to confirm your identity. We cannot read or delete study records held only on your device or files you exported elsewhere. We will update this page if the app’s data handling changes.
