Specify the comparison before reviewing requests
Synthetic policy: cancellation requests received before 18:00 return one reserved session. Requests at or after 18:00 consume it. The booking starts at 20:00. Use the recorded receipt time, not when staff open the request; this example concerns session entitlement only, with no money-refund rule.
| Request | Received | Comparison | Outcome |
|---|---|---|---|
| C-11 | 17:59:59 | Before 18:00 | Cancel; return 1 session |
| C-12 | 18:00:00 | At cutoff | Cancel; consume 1 session |
| C-13 | 18:00:01 | After cutoff | Cancel; consume 1 session |
Decide cancellation and entitlement separately
- Read the booking start, policy version and request receipt time.
- Compare receipt against 18:00 using the strict before rule.
- Cancel the booking, release its place and record the one-session outcome.
Missing or conflicting receipt evidence requires review; a staff processing delay cannot justify changing the boundary.
C-11 is processed at 18:05. Does it lose the returned session?
Show the worked answer
No. Its 17:59:59 receipt meets the rule, so one session returns. C-12 does not qualify because equality is excluded.
Show the cancellation result and session effect together so a cancelled booking is not mistaken for an automatic credit return.
