Keep the original package boundary
Synthetic rule: an eligible cancellation returns a held session to its original package. Expiry is unchanged unless a separate extension decision exists. A returned session can therefore be recorded but unusable. Keep both quantity and eligibility visible instead of showing every return as available.
| Return | Package boundary | Processed | Outcome |
|---|---|---|---|
| R-E1: 1 to P-1 | Unusable from 11 Oct 00:00 | 10 Oct 20:00 | 1 returned; usable before boundary |
| R-E2: 1 to P-2 | Unusable from 10 Oct 00:00 | 10 Oct 20:00 | 1 returned; expired |
| R-E3: repeated R-E2 | Same P-2 | 10 Oct 20:05 | No additional return |
Restore quantity and evaluate usability
- Find the original held allocation and cancellation decision.
- Return it once to that package, retaining the expiry boundary.
- Classify returned quantity as usable or expired and show any approved extension separately.
If the original package cannot be identified, do not invent a new package; hold the adjustment for investigation.
Do R-E1 to R-E3 create three usable sessions?
Show the worked answer
No. Two unique sessions return, only R-E1 is usable at processing time, and R-E3 duplicates R-E2.
An extension changes the boundary; a reinstatement changes quantity. Record different reasons so staff can explain both.
