Express option groups as a selection rule
Synthetic quote Q-85 offers either hosted deployment H or customer-managed deployment C, exactly one from group D. Training T is independently optional. A response choosing H and C is contradictory even if every line exists. Line-level acceptance alone cannot validate the combination. Keep the response intact and request a corrected choice rather than silently picking the first item.
| Choice set | D-group count | Validity under rule | Order treatment |
|---|---|---|---|
| H + T | 1 | Valid | Hosted plus training |
| H + C | 2 | Conflicting | Hold for one deployment choice |
| T only | 0 | Required deployment missing | Hold for H or C |
Validate the combination, then the lines
- Read required and optional groups
- Count selected group members
- Resolve zero or multiple choices
- Create the valid selected scope
Do not remove a selected option on the customer’s behalf; keep the contradictory response attached to the clarification.
The customer selects C without T. Is training required?
Show the worked answer
No. Exactly one deployment was selected and training is optional. The valid order contains C only.
Selection constraints are synthetic scope rules, not provider product features. Optional and mandatory items must be agreed in the actual quotation.
