Merge duplicate leads without merging separate opportunities

Consolidate confirmed duplicate identities while keeping different buying decisions distinct.

Review child opportunities before consolidating the lead

Synthetic leads L-98 and L-99 are confirmed copies of contact C-31. L-98 owns a data-export opportunity, while L-99 owns a support-renewal opportunity. Merge the identity to C-31 and move both opportunity links, preserving their stages and owners. A third opportunity is another record of the same data-export buying decision; review that duplicate separately using scope and customer decision evidence.

Consolidate the person, then review duplicate decisions

  1. Confirm duplicate contact identity
  2. List all linked opportunities
  3. Preserve distinct buying decisions
  4. Review only suspected opportunity duplicates

Conflicting active quotes must remain visible; do not choose the higher stage as the surviving truth.

After removing the confirmed O-EXPORT-COPY duplicate, how many buying decisions remain?

Show the worked answer

Two: export D-8 and support renewal D-9. A single merged contact can still have both.

This is a business-entity decision, not a bulk-import or idempotency recipe. Do not claim duplicate opportunities without evidence that they represent the same purchase.
