A fictional buyer pays for a sofa and cushion in the shop. The cushion is carried now; the sofa will be dispatched from W1 later. One sale does not require one simultaneous physical handover.
| Business requirement | Carry now | Ship later |
|---|---|---|
| Cushion | Store handover complete | No future dispatch needed |
| Sofa | Not actually handed over | Delivery address and warehouse task |
| Order state | Payment does not prove all goods carried | Each line keeps fulfilment progress |
Work through the chosen model
The sale stores both charged lines. Fulfilment records identify cushion collection and sofa dispatch source/destination. Keep planned delivery separate from actual dispatch and receipt. Staff confirmation shows which goods leave now and which remain promised.
- Choose carry or delivery per item
- Take payment for supplied sale
- Complete immediate and later fulfilments
Split fulfilment adds tracking but reflects mixed baskets. Before selecting a POS, demonstrate a mixed carry-and-delivery basket through staff handover.
One paid order has cushion collected and sofa pending W1 dispatch. Payment completes the commercial checkout; it does not mark the sofa delivered.
When the other model fits
Buyer carries both items immediately. Must a delivery task remain?
Show the worked answer
No. Record both as carried under the supplied process, without a fictitious future shipment.
