Split a return into usable, repair-review and damaged units

Record item-level inspection outcomes so a whole parcel is never restocked under one convenient status.

Count each inspection outcome

RA-K returns eight matched units. The supplied local inspection criteria classify five as usable, two as needing repair review and one as damaged beyond the sample’s permitted repair. Staff have checked all eight. These classifications are specific to this exercise, not a safety certification or valuation policy.

Give each subset its own next state

  1. Match returned items
  2. Inspect each unit under agreed criteria
  3. Separate the three outcomes physically
  4. Route usable units to restock review
  5. Assign repair and disposition owners

An uninspected unit stays pending; it must not inherit the usable result from the other five.

Keep RA-K as one received return with three child inspection outcomes. Restocking five does not close the repair review or disposal decision. Financial credit may use different approved criteria and must refer to its own decision; no quantity-to-refund rule is assumed here.

If only the five usable units are restocked, how many returned units still need another decision?

Show the worked answer

Three: two in repair review and one awaiting disposition. Five plus two plus one accounts for all eight received units.
