Give the offer and order separate baselines
Synthetic rule: issuing Q-41 revision 2 supersedes revision 1 for new acceptance. An order already confirmed against revision 1 keeps that snapshot until a separate order amendment is agreed. Drafting a revision does not make it current. The quote register therefore needs both the offer lifecycle and the order link; a single latest-file field cannot describe both.
| Record | State | Scope baseline | Next decision |
|---|---|---|---|
| Q-41 r1 | Superseded for new acceptance | Eight setup tasks | Retain accepted copy for O-19 |
| Q-41 r2 | Issued; current offer | Ten setup tasks | Use for a new response |
| O-19 | Confirmed from r1 | Eight setup tasks | No automatic change to ten |
Follow the revision into the response
- Record revision lineage
- Issue replacement
- Mark prior offer superseded
- Keep confirmed order snapshot
A response to r1 after r2 was issued is held for quote clarification; it does not rewrite O-19.
Revision 3 is saved as a draft. Which revision can a new customer response use?
Show the worked answer
Revision 2 remains current. Revision 3 has not been issued; O-19 still retains revision 1.
Replace the supersession policy with your agreed practice. This operating register does not determine contractual effect or authorise changing an existing order.
