Name the approved fields
Synthetic policy: a sales reviewer approves deliverables, quantities and delivery assumptions. Fixing a display typo may retain approval only when those fields are unchanged and the correction is logged. Changing a quantity or exclusion invalidates the approval of the revised quote. Preserve the earlier approval against its revision rather than erasing it or copying its timestamp onto the new revision.
| Edit to Q-52 | Reviewed field affected | Revision decision | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Correct heading spelling | None; same deliverable text | Log correction; retain approval under policy | Before/after comparison |
| Increase setup tasks 6 to 7 | Quantity | Revised draft awaits approval | One additional task listed |
| Remove training exclusion | Scope boundary | Revised draft awaits approval | Revised included/excluded list |
Compare substance before reusing approval
- Read approved snapshot
- Compare reviewed fields
- Classify the edit
- Retain or request fresh approval
An unclassified edit stays in draft; staff cannot label a scope change as cosmetic to bypass review.
The customer name typo and task quantity both change. Can the edit retain approval?
Show the worked answer
No. The quantity is in the reviewed scope. Keep the old approval on its snapshot and obtain approval for the revised content.
Approval coverage is an authored local rule. This example is about quotation content, not a general software permission matrix or approval delegation.
