Preserve quantities at the original line level
Synthetic O-221 contains setup line S with eight units and training line T with three. Package P1 receives S=5 and T=1; P2 receives S=3 and T=2. The fixture requires both line totals to reconcile. If a package contains an extra S and one fewer T, the overall eleven-unit total may still match while the scope is wrong. Keep the original line IDs in every package.
| Original line | Order quantity | P1 / P2 allocation | Reconciliation |
|---|---|---|---|
| S: setup | 8 | 5 / 3 | 5 + 3 = 8; pass |
| T: training | 3 | 1 / 2 | 1 + 2 = 3; pass |
| All units | 11 | 6 / 5 | 11 total; line checks still required |
Release packages after every line reconciles
- Read original line quantities
- Collect all package allocations
- Compare per-line totals
- Confirm package scope links
A missing package is unresolved allocation, not an assumed zero; hold the split until all destinations are accounted for.
P2 changes to S=4 and T=1. Does its unchanged five-unit total pass?
Show the worked answer
No. S totals 5 + 4 = 9 instead of 8; T totals 1 + 1 = 2 instead of 3. Matching overall totals conceal two line errors.
This conserves sales scope quantities, not warehouse allocation, invoice amounts or fulfilled delivery totals.
