Work with the example
How can a reviewer keep the supplied 18-minute sample while you keep editing the calculation? Download both the live workbook and its separate fixed review copy. The review label is “Exercise snapshot 2026-10-11”; it is a practice snapshot, not an approval record.
| File | Source | C5 |
|---|---|---|
| Live | 6 cards × 3 minutes | =A5*B5 →18 |
| Fixed review | 6 and 3 | Numeric 18, no formula |
Edit the working cells
Change A5 in the live file from 6 to 8: its C5 becomes 24. Open the review file again: C5 remains numeric 18. A fresh live source of zero gives 0 while the review still holds 18. Inspect C5 in each formula bar; separate filenames alone do not establish a fixed value.
Check the failure case
A formula copied into the review file can still change when that file’s own A5 changes. Try A5=8 in a disposable review copy: a fixed numeric C5 stays 18, whereas =A5*B5 would become 24. Keep the original review file for comparison.
Does editing the live file prove the review C5 has no formula?

No. Inspect the review cell and test its own source in a disposable copy.
