Keep consigned and purchased stock in separate fulfilment sources

Use the supplied source category when allocating stock instead of treating physical total as one interchangeable pool.

Attach source category to counted units

Synthetic warehouse holds five units labelled purchased source O and seven labelled consigned source C. Order W1 is explicitly allowed source O only. These source labels come from supplied records and do not decide legal title or valuation. Twelve physically present units do not satisfy a six-unit O-only request.

  1. Read source records
  2. Read order’s allowed source
  3. Compare eligible quantity only
  4. Record source-specific issue

An unknown source must stay under review; it cannot be assigned O merely because that would fulfil the order.

Can C supply the sixth unit without a new source decision?

Show the worked answer

No. O has only five eligible units. One remains unfilled under the supplied O-only rule.

Ask for source-specific balance and issue evidence; a single twelve-unit stock display hides this requirement.
