Sequence two work packages that share an exclusive bench

Reserve the work and changeover together so the second task starts in a genuinely available workspace.

Separate work time from changeover

The synthetic bench is exclusive. Task A needs two hours, followed by a thirty-minute changeover before Task B, which needs ninety minutes. One operator can perform both. The workday begins at 09:00 and the supplied changeover cannot overlap Task A.

Give the next task a ready workspace

  1. Reserve exclusive bench
  2. Complete Task A
  3. Perform supplied changeover
  4. Start B at 11:30

If A overruns, move the changeover and B together; do not keep B’s start while dropping the required transition.

Both tasks finish at 13:00. The thirty-minute interval is occupied capacity even though it produces neither task’s output. Preserve it when planning another bench user.

A finishes at 11:20 instead. What is B’s revised finish?

Show the worked answer

13:20: changeover ends at 11:50, then B takes ninety minutes.
