Split a joint task handover without overlapping responsibility

Give each receiver disjoint work units and keep a named owner for the final assembly.

Map each unit to one receiver

The synthetic task contains eight cards. Mei accepts cards C01–C05 and Jo C06–C08. Ren retains final assembly after both subsets complete. The supplied process allows independent card editing; approval of the final assembled set remains a separate task.

Check coverage and overlap before closing the handover

  1. List all eight identities
  2. Assign disjoint subsets
  3. Record both acceptances
  4. Check all eight covered once
  5. Retain Ren’s assembly task

If both receivers claim C05 or neither accepts C06, resolve the assignment before treating the handover as complete.

Five plus three covers eight with no duplicate unit. Neither receiver alone owns final assembly. Keep the parent task and subset identities linked so progress can be joined without creating extra cards.

Mei finishes five and Jo finishes two. How many cards remain, and can Ren assemble the final set?

Show the worked answer

One card remains. Ren must wait for Jo’s third card before the complete eight-card assembly.
