Use the workbook
Prepare a distribution chart from six observed processing durations. The workbook uses explicit bins rather than an automatic histogram setting. Each chart column shows a count, not a probability or a confidence level.
| Interval (minutes) | Count |
|---|---|
| At most 5 | 3 |
| Above 5, at most 10 | 2 |
| Above 10, at most 15 | 1 |
| Above 15 | 0 |
Change the inputs
Inputs B5:B10 are 2,5,5,8,10,14. Editable bin limits E5:E7 are 5,10,15 in increasing order. The first bin includes every numeric value at or below 5, including zero; later bins exclude the lower limit and include the upper limit. Blank source cells remain missing and are not treated as zero. Add 15 in B11: the last bounded bin becomes 2. Add 16 in B12: overflow becomes 1.
Check the misleading result
Using <5 for the first bin loses both observations equal to 5. Including the lower endpoint in both neighboring bins counts a boundary twice. Review the row bucket codes before using the chart to avoid either error.
What happens if the first observation changes from 2 to numeric 0, and what if it is cleared?
Show the worked answer
Zero remains in the first bin, so its count stays 3. Clearing it removes one numeric observation, leaving 2 in that bin.
