Compare the rule with concrete cases
Original fictional load accepts integers one through four. Three cases using one, two and three are all in-range and test only one validity group. A stronger initial set includes below-range zero, valid two and above-range five. This initial set covers the three stated groups.
| Input | Group | Expected result | Distinct coverage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | Below range | Reject | Lower invalid group |
| 2 | In range | Accept | Valid group |
| 5 | Above range | Reject | Upper invalid group |
Work through the distinction
Three examples are not automatically three kinds of evidence. Record the group represented by each and then add endpoints or type cases when those are relevant.
If a fourth case uses three, does it add a missing validity group?
Show the worked answer
No. It is another in-range case. The initial set already represents the three named groups.
Acceptance wording to adapt
The acceptance case pack must include at least one below-range, one in-range and one above-range integer with an expected result. Label each group so extra in-range cases cannot be reported as new group coverage.
