Compare the rule with concrete cases
Fictional priority categories cover integer scores from zero to ten. Draft wording says low below four and high above six, leaving four, five and six unclassified. The repaired rule is low 0–3, medium 4–6, high 7–10. Scores outside 0–10 are invalid rather than a fourth category.
| Score | Draft result | Repaired result | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | Low | Low | 0–3 |
| 4 | No category | Medium | 4–6 |
| 7 | High | High | 7–10 |
Work through the distinction
Check coverage separately from input validity. Adding a catch-all “high” would misclassify an invalid score eleven instead of rejecting it.
What happens to scores six and eleven under the repaired rule?
Show the worked answer
Six is medium; eleven is invalid. Every permitted score has one category, but invalid scores have no category.
Acceptance wording to adapt
Accept integer scores 0 through 10 only. Return low for 0–3, medium for 4–6 and high for 7–10. Reject other values without returning a category.
