Inspect the working example
The glossary defines HTML with one description and CSS with two. No field is editable. A description list provides groups of names and values without turning fixed reference text into disabled inputs.
| Case | Input or inspection | Result and meaning |
|---|---|---|
| HTML group | dt followed by one dd | One name, one description |
| CSS group | dt followed by two dd elements | One name, two associated descriptions |
| Input controls | Inspect the fixed glossary | Zero input elements; there is no value to edit |
Follow the browser mechanism
dt gives a name and dd supplies its associated value or description within dl. Consecutive descriptions belong to the preceding name group. This fixture uses one name per group, but the model does not require a one-to-one pair. The source groups should remain understandable when the page narrows.
Bold paragraphs keep only appearance
The same words below are ordinary paragraphs. Bold font does not establish dt/dd groups.
<p style="font-weight:bold">CSS</p><p>Controls presentation.</p><p>Includes layout rules.</p>The counterexample has three p elements and no dl, dt or dd. The working fixture has a DT, DD, DT, DD, DD child sequence.
Try the repair
You add “Controls spacing” as another CSS description. Must you create a second CSS dt first?

No. Add another dd to the existing CSS name group. Repeat the name only if you intend a separate group with a different meaning.
- Keep every dd in its intended name group.
- At narrow widths, retain all descriptions without clipping.
