Choose against the task constraints
A synthetic membership help page has cancellation, package-expiry and make-up-session answers. A customer may need all three to understand one change. The site also has a separate account area with mutually distinct history and preference views.
| Condition | Independent disclosures | Topic tabs |
|---|---|---|
| Compare two answers at once | Keep multiple answers open | One panel is shown at a time |
| Read a long answer on a phone | Answer stays beside its question | Ensure active topic remains identifiable |
| Switch between distinct account views | A stack may mix separate tasks | A topic switch can keep one task visible |
Use independent disclosures for the linked help questions and allow several answers to remain open. Do not force readers to remember one answer while a tab hides it. Account views may use tabs when their structure and keyboard behaviour are implemented deliberately.
One change can involve several answers
| Question | Applies to | Read together |
|---|---|---|
| Cancel a lesson | Booking state | Package expiry |
| Package expiry | Credit availability | Make-up session |
| Notification preference | Account choice | Independent task |
Which presentation lets the customer keep cancellation and expiry answers visible together?
Show the worked answer
Independent disclosures with both sections open. The requirement is simultaneous access, not a rule that every FAQ must use one widget.
Check the chosen interaction
- Enter and Space change a disclosure and expose its state.
- Opening expiry information must not unexpectedly close cancellation.
- If tabs are used elsewhere, test their arrow navigation and active panel.
