Redirect a stock transfer while preserving its original route

Use an authorised diversion record to change the destination without inventing a receipt at the old warehouse.

Confirm current custody before changing destination

T-B was dispatched from W-A to W-B with nine units. The driver still holds carton C-TB. A supplied authorised instruction DIV-B changes the destination to W-C, which confirms it can receive this identified stock. The original dispatch remains valid; the intended route changes.

Receive against the diverted route

  1. Locate current container and custodian
  2. Obtain authorised new destination
  3. Record diversion against T-B
  4. Handover at W-C
  5. Match receipt to original transfer plus DIV-B

If W-B has already physically received the goods, this is a new onward transfer decision; do not rewrite that completed receipt as a route diversion.

Preserve W-B as the originally intended destination in the history. W-C accepts nine under RC-TB, while W-B has no receipt. Do not cancel the source dispatch and create a second source issue: the same nine remained in transit. No extra transport price or delivery promise is inferred.

Should W-B show nine received and nine issued to make the records balance?

Show the worked answer

No. W-B never took custody. Record one W-A issue and one W-C receipt, with DIV-B explaining the changed destination.
