Work with the example
How do you reuse this small job sheet without erasing its formulas? The download starts with blank inputs in A5:C6 and live formulas in D5:D6. Use a separate working copy; the worked example below supplies the first job.
| ID | Batches | Minutes/batch | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| P1 | 3 | 12 | 36 minutes |
| P2 | 4 | 8 | 32 minutes |
Edit the working cells
D5 uses =IF(AND(A5<>"";ISNUMBER(B5);ISNUMBER(C5));B5*C5;""). Fill P1,3,12 in row 5 to get 36. Clear only A5:C6 contents, keeping formats; both D cells then display empty text while retaining formulas. In a new copy enter P2,4,8 in row 6 to get 32. Numeric zero batches gives 0 rather than a missing-input display.
Check the failure case
Clearing A5:D6 erases the formulas too. A blank display is not proof that a formula survived: select D5 and inspect the formula bar. The reusable master should remain blank when a separate working copy is saved.
Which range should be cleared after finishing P1?
Show the worked answer
A5:C6 contents only. Keep D5:D6 and their formulas.
