UX/UI Design in Hong Kong
User research, wireframing, prototyping, and design systems for web and mobile applications — crafted by a bilingual design team that understands Hong Kong users.
What We Deliver
Great design is not decoration — it's how your product communicates, converts, and retains users. Whether you're launching a new product or redesigning an existing one, we bring structured, research-backed design thinking to every pixel and interaction.
Our design practice covers the full spectrum:
- User research & persona mapping — interviews, surveys, and data analysis to understand who your users really are
- Information architecture — structuring content and navigation so users find what they need without thinking
- Wireframes & interactive prototypes — clickable Figma prototypes you can test with real users before writing any code
- Visual design & design systems — consistent, scalable UI components with documented tokens, styles, and patterns
- Responsive web design — interfaces that work flawlessly across desktop, tablet, and mobile
- Mobile app design — native experiences following iOS Human Interface Guidelines and Material Design
- Bilingual UI (English + Traditional Chinese) — designed natively for both languages, not translated as an afterthought
- Accessibility-first design (WCAG 2.1 AA) — inclusive experiences that work for everyone
- Usability testing — validating designs with real users to catch friction before launch
How We Work
Our design process is iterative and collaborative. Figma is our single source of truth — every stakeholder, developer, and tester works from the same file, always up to date.
1. Research
We start by understanding your users, business goals, and competitive landscape. This includes stakeholder interviews, user research, analytics review, and competitive audits. The output is a clear problem definition and design brief — not assumptions.
2. Wireframe
Low-fidelity wireframes map out the information architecture, user flows, and key interactions. We iterate quickly at this stage because it's cheap to change a wireframe and expensive to change a finished design.
3. Visual Design
High-fidelity mockups bring the wireframes to life with your brand's visual language — typography, colour, spacing, iconography. We build a design system in parallel so every component is reusable and consistent.
4. Prototype
Interactive Figma prototypes let you click through the full experience before a single line of code is written. Stakeholders can review, comment, and approve in context.
5. Test
We run usability tests with real users (using Maze and moderated sessions) to validate our design decisions. Friction points are identified and fixed before development begins.
6. Handoff
Developers receive complete component specs, design tokens, asset exports, and interaction annotations — all inside Figma. Because our designers and engineers work under one roof, handoff is seamless and nothing gets lost.
Design Principles
- Outcome-driven — design exists to solve problems and drive business results, not to decorate
- Data-informed — every design decision is backed by analytics, user testing, or established research
- Bilingual-native — we design for English and Traditional Chinese simultaneously, not as a translation layer
- Accessible by default — WCAG 2.1 AA compliance is a baseline, not a bonus feature
Who This Is For
- Startups needing investor-ready prototypes that demonstrate product viability and user experience
- Businesses redesigning outdated interfaces that frustrate users and hurt conversion rates
- Product teams needing dedicated design capacity without the overhead of hiring full-time designers
Why Hong Kong Businesses Choose Astera
Our design team is natively bilingual — we think in both English and Traditional Chinese, not run text through Google Translate. This means your UI reads naturally in both languages, with proper handling of text expansion, character density, and reading patterns that only a local team understands.
We understand Hong Kong user behaviour and expectations — from Octopus and FPS payment flows to the way local users navigate mobile apps. And because design and engineering live under one roof at Astera, what gets designed is exactly what gets built. No handoff gaps, no "the developers couldn't implement this," no compromises.
Frequently Asked Questions
Both. Our designers work alongside our engineers, so what gets designed is exactly what gets built. No lost-in-translation between design and code.
Figma for design and prototyping, Maze for usability testing, Hotjar for analytics, Storybook for component documentation.
Yes. We start with a UX audit of your current product, identify friction points, and redesign iteratively.
We design for both English and Traditional Chinese from the start, not as an afterthought. This means accounting for text expansion, character density, and reading patterns.
